What Accountants Typically Need

Accountants working with crypto clients usually ask for a dated trail they can reconcile — not a cropped balance screenshot. A structured statement can make that handoff clearer when paired with exchange exports and any tax software the firm already uses.

Reconciled balances

Opening and closing balances that follow the transaction list for the selected period.

Itemised transactions

Dated movements with direction, amounts and running balance.

Fiat valuations

Historical GBP, USD or EUR figures for discussion and working papers.

CSV for spreadsheets

Import-ready export for Excel, Sheets or bookkeeping tools.

Explorer references

Hashes and links so entries can be checked independently.

Methodology notes

Clear notes on data sources and how balances are derived.

For Holders and Accountants

If you hold crypto

  • Replace ad-hoc explorer exports with one organised period
  • Give your accountant PDF clarity and CSV detail
  • Include fiat estimates alongside native amounts

If you are an accountant

  • Receive structured data instead of screenshots
  • Cross-check rows via public explorer links
  • Keep tax calculation tools for gains; use this for activity presentation

Important Limitations

This is not a capital gains calculator and not HMRC-certified. Self-custody wallets only. Exchange activity should come from the exchange export. Always confirm what your accountant needs for the filing year.

Important

CryptoBankStatement is not a bank, accountant, solicitor, tax adviser, immigration adviser or financial adviser. This content is not legal, tax, financial, immigration or banking advice. The receiving institution decides what documents it accepts.

Common Questions

Is the CSV compatible with accounting software?

The CSV includes date, description, type, crypto amount, fiat value and running balance — suitable for Excel, Google Sheets and many accounting workflows. Import steps vary by tool.

Does the statement include fiat values for each transaction?

Yes. Historical GBP, USD, EUR or other supported fiat valuations are included using market pricing at the time of each transaction. These are estimates for informational purposes and should be verified for tax filing.

Can I generate statements for multiple years?

You can cover up to 5 years per statement. For tax work, many people generate one statement per tax year.

Is this suitable for HMRC or self-assessment?

It provides organised transaction history that may help an accountant prepare filings. It is not a tax calculation, capital gains report, or certified financial document. Consult a qualified accountant.

Does this replace Koinly or CoinTracker?

No. Tax aggregators calculate gains and income for filing. CryptoBankStatement produces a bank-style activity statement for review and reconciliation. Many users use both.
